SCORING

Scoring, Daily resets and practice explained

Learn how close answers score, when Daily resets and what a replay saves.

What earns points?

Each of the seven rounds can award up to 1,000 points. Your total is the sum of the round scores. There is no speed bonus: once an answer is accepted, answering faster does not add points.

In a closest-pick round, the nearest available choice earns 1,000 even if it is not an exact match. Tied nearest choices both earn full credit. Other choices score according to how far their value is from the target.

An example using the current scoring rules

Suppose a target is 12, the nearest available choice is 10, and another choice is 18. Their distances from the target are 2 and 6. The first earns full points because it is nearest. Under the current scale-v1 rules, the second choice is scored using the extra distance beyond the nearest choice: 6 − 2 = 4.

Each metric has a scoring scale. An extra difference equal to that scale is worth about 500 points; larger differences score progressively less. Number estimates use the difference from the recorded value. Older Daily sets may use the earlier pixel-v1 rules, and saved results keep their original version.

Daily, practice and the UTC reset

A new fixed Daily set begins at 00:00 UTC. Each topic has its own Daily. Your first completed Daily for a topic and date becomes that Daily result on this device; later attempts are labelled Practice and do not replace it.

Finishing a Daily is what records the result. If a timed round reaches zero before a valid answer is locked, that round scores zero. The next round waits until you continue.

Records are local

Your Records shows local results and personal bests, grouped by mode, timing and rules version. These are not a verified global leaderboard. Earlier and newer versions may use different question collections and scoring rules, so compare the version as well as the score.

Export your save from Your Records to keep a backup. Import replaces the current local save rather than merging it; read the on-screen confirmation before importing.
